Originally released in 1994 on Harthouse Records, THE AMBUSH was an album written and produced by Oliver Lieb.

Following two single-sided 12″s that presented The Ambush in a raw, brutal and rave-driven form, Oliver wanted to take the project somewhere completely different. He began collecting percussion sounds, melodies, ambient textures, tribal elements, sounds and voices, gradually shaping them into a concept that was far more organic and diverse than the previous releases.

The result was an album moving between hypnotic rhythms, atmospheric passages, melodic moments and tribal influences, creating a very different side of The Ambush while still retaining its distinctive energy.

Harald Großkopf plays additional drums on “Terra” and later helped bring The Ambush to the stage for its live performance at the Montreux Jazz Festival.

Now, more than three decades later, the original album has been carefully transferred and freshly remastered by Oliver Lieb, bringing this unique chapter of the Harthouse era back with a new level of clarity while preserving the character of the original production.
